Top 3 Activities in Siem Reap for Families

What to do in Siem Reap? This is a question we often get asked by guests booking a Taste Siem Reap Food Tour. I have lived in Siem Reap for almost 10 years now and have two kids so here are my top three tips for Siem Reap family activities during your stay, apart from the temples.

Top 3 Siem Reap Activities for Families

Wake Park Cambodia

One of our favourite places to visit with our girls who are 7 and 4. It’s only 10-15mins from town but feels a world away. The beach area is amazing with a natural swimming lake and lots of places to chill out and watch the kids play. Then there is Aqua Land which is basically a giant floating bouncy obstacle course - recommended for kids 4/5 years old and up. And of course wake boarding for the older ones.

Top Tip: It gets quite hot in the middle of the day. We like to go either in the morning then have lunch or go around 4pm and stay for dinner. The food and cocktails are delicious!

Family Photo Shoot

Memories to last a life time! Geoff my partner is a photographer specialising in capturing precious family moments in Angkor without the crowds. Being a dad himself, Geoff is very good with children and getting them to stay still for photos, he has been know to break into a rendition of Baby Shark when needed! Here is what his customers say:

We contacted Geoff for a photo shoot as our family was visiting Cambodia for the first time. I came across his site and decided to book. Not only were we blown away by the quality of his work, but he was so friendly and we had such a fun time with him, despite our two young kids being a bit of a handful. Hands down the best thing we did in Siem Reap!

Top Tip: 30mins - 1 hour is enough for a photo shoot with small kids and bring a favourite toy so they can get memories with them too. One of my favourite photos is our daughter Alba with her beloved Moo in front of Angkor Wat during Covid times. It’s a bit busier now!

Phare, The Cambodian Circus

High-energy and a lot of fun! Phare Circus is a must do in Siem Reap and I would recommend it for kids age 3/4 and above. The show starts at 8pm and runs for one hour. The artists are so skilled and the music is great too…our girls were captivated as you can see. In this photo they were three and six! It’s so good that one of our family-friendly tours is actually based around a performance at Phare. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Wild for a spring roll (savoury and sweet) dinner and then your driver will whisk you away to Phare where you will have the best seats in the house. At the end of the evening he will drop you back at your hotel. More info about our Phare Family Circus Dinner here.

Top Tip: Some of the shows are more kid-friendly that others. Khmer Angkor Village is our favourite so far with kids!
